4-day International Festival of History and Civics 'Reflections-2019' begins at CMS

Lucknow, 31 August : Speaker of UP Legislative Assembly Shri Hriday Narain
Dikshit inaugurated the 4-day International Festival of History and Civics
'Reflections-2019' organized by City Montessori School, Mahanagar Campus
ceremoniously this evening at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium. The inaugural
function was resplendent with music and creative abilities of students which
poured out through songs and dances promoting the spirit of Unity in Diversity
and need for a peaceful world. The programme began with All Religion and World
Peace Prayer which was followed by a mock World Parliament in which children
dressed in different countries discussed global problems and their peaceful
solutions. On this occasion, the participating teams from Sri Lanka, Nepal,
Bangladesh and various states of India introduced themselves in amazing style. It
is worth mentioning here that 'Reflections-2019' is being organized from 31
August to 3 September at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium in which approximately
500 students of various countries are participating.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, the Chief Guest, Shri Hriday
Narain Dikshit, Speaker, Legislative Assembly, UP, appraised CMS highly and
said that this international festival will provide a common platform to the students of
various countries which will developa bond of fraternity, love, tolerance and
brotherhood among themselves. He opined that children of modern generation must not
only know their rights rather they should be aware of their duties too.
Welcoming the participating teams and their team leaders, the Convenor of
'Reflections-2019' and Principal of CMS Mahanagar Campus, Dr Kalpana Tripathi
said that the new generation must shoulder the responsibility of giving a new direction
to humanity and therefore, it is essential that students of different countries assemble on
a common platform and express their thoughts fearlessly. Inspired by these thoughts,
CMS is organizing this International Festival of History and Civics in this historic city,
Lucknow. Time has come that the future generation should learn from history and be
well prepared for future challenges, she said. CMS Founder and renowned
educationist, Dr Jagdish Gandhi said that the present age must learn lessons from
past wars and bloody fights and resolve the differences between the countries
peacefully and not by fighting. This generation must learn from history and be well
prepared for future challenges, he said. Dr Gandhi hoped that this festival will prove to
be a new milestone in teaching the younger generation about World Unity.

Earlier, in the afternoon session, the students of Sri Lanka, Nepal,
Bangladesh and various states of India participating in 'Reflections-2019' met
with the media personnel at a press conference and expressed their views.
Speaking to press reporters, the students of Richmond College, Sri Lanka said
that we have come here with high hopes. We will get acquainted with the culture and
traditions of various countries besides showcasing our talents through healthy
competition. Students of St. Gregory's High School, Dhaka, Bangladesh said that
besides participating in the contests, we will also spread the message of unity, peace
and love in the whole world. Students of Annapurna Residential School, Nepal,
stated that India is the biggest democratic country in the world and has always guided
and inspired the world in times of adversity. Participants of Monastic HSEB School,
Nepal showed great enthusiasm to participate in this mega event. Similarly, the
students of various other teams from India and abroad opined that the leaders and
heads of all the countries will learn a lesson and then take necessary measures to
establish unity among the nations for human welfare.
Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS, Mr Hari Om Sharma informed that
the contests of Reflections-2019 will begin from tomorrow, 1st September from
10.00 am which include Dialectic (Debate), Donatello’s David (Model Display),
Hieroglyphics (Brochure Making), Lyceum’s Sophistry (Extempore), Assembly of
Ecclesia (Group Discussion), ElysianTheatre (Movie Making) etc. Besides, a
'Cultural Evening', in honour of delegates from India and abroad, has been
organized at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium from 7.00 pm.
